Indonesian modern garden gazebo, contemporary poolside gazebo, and Bali traditional gazebos
information:
SPECIFICATION OF GAZEBO & PAVILION
Our standard modern gazebos and garden pavilions are made from bangkirai hardwood or from coconut wood. In certain circumstances, however, we also produce gazebos from teakwood. Bangkirai (belau) wood used in every set of our poolside gazebos and garden pavilions come from sustainably managed tropical hardwood plantations in Kalimatan island (Indonesia).
Many garden pavilions and poolside gazebos made in Indonesia, most probably even most of gazebo shipped from Indonesia to overseas countries, are made of coconut wood. The main reason to offer gazebos of coconut wood is due to its lower price than that of bangkirai hardwood. The disadvantage of coconut wood is that it is not as durable as bangkirai hardwood.
Prospective customers of wooden gazebos should be aware of the fact that coconut wood is classified into softwood, not into hardwood. And, by nature, coconut wood does not stand the time as long as those of bangkirai hardwood nor as those of teak wood. Also, it is not immune for attacks by white ants. Only teakwood, iron wood and bangkirai is not susceptible to white ant attacks.
Note: We use the highest quality of wood, more specifically: the bangkirai wood. For more information please read any of these articles: Properties of bangkirai wood, Turning away termites - Bangkirai ideal for building in Hawaii, and Resistance of bangkirai (shorea laevis) to attack by the Formosan subterranean termite.
Gazebo & Pavilion Roofing
Our standard modern gazebos and garden pavilions come with fabrics roofing. This canopy fabric is made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic fibres. The colour, locked deep inside the fabric, is fade-and weather-resistant. The canopy is 100% opaque, waterproof and also protects against UV rays, wind and rain.
This Sunbella® awning fabrics used as the canvas roofing in our standard gazebos and pavilions is light in weight, attractive, durable and long lasting. Combined to perfect workmanship of the structural wood elements of each gazebo we produce, this Sunbrella® canvas roofing adds a modern feel to our traditionally constructed gazebos and pavilions.
Roofing Option
Under a special request by customers we may produce gazebos and pavilions with shingle panels roofing. This roofing is made of iron wood, another type of tropical hardwood which also has sufficient strength (closer to bangkirai's strength). This hardwood has a lifespan of up to 30 years and has been used for hundreds of years throughout Indonesia. It is one of the most durable timber available in Indonesia.
Each shingle panel of iron wood is available in a number of sizes, they are prefabricated in our production workshop. We use shingles of at least 5mm thick, to ensuring its durability when used as roofing of the gazebos we ship to our customers. Each shingle panel is made of overlapping layers of iron wood shingle, and has already been pre-constructed in our workshop for easy assembling at customers' location sites.
When constructing a shingle panel roofing system we always take a maximum climate protection in our mind. It comprises of four layers-choice of rattan or bamboo weaved interior layer, plywood, protective aluminium foil, and then iron wood shingles at outermost. This alternative gazebo roofing system is perfectly suitable for gazebo designs that demand exposed ceilings.
Finally, as all our gazebo series are completely knockdown, this iron wood shingle roofing system is also designed to be installed without any nails; we only use wood screws to attach this wooden roofing system on top of the wooden frame construction of our gazebos.
A special note on thatched roof for gazebos:
There is a high demand on gazebos with "alang-alang grass" thatched roofing, as it gives an attractive natural feel to any modern designed gazebos. However, due to the complexities in treating such kind of grass especially in meeting quarantine requirements, we don't serve orders of gazebos and pavilions with thatched "alang-alang grass" roofing.
Jointing Systems and Finishings of Wood
Our gazebos and pavilions are structures of wooden frames that are completely knockdown; no nails are used to set a gazebo up well on your garden and patio. All joints and connections between wood are made by using tongue and groove wood joining systems, bolts, wood screws and/or wooden dowels. Metal fasteners used in our gazebos can be supplied either of stainless steel materials or of normal carbon steel. Choice of this options will be confirmed during processing a customer order.
As with finishing of the wood, we use transparent varnish finishing. This finishing is applied on top of fine sanding of all wood.
