Information Overload - But I Loved It! -
Ms. Yaron took the time to write an extensive review of baby nutrition and recommendations. She is definately "type A" as far as I am concerned and I appreciated someone else compiling such an excellent source of good information. As with many many aspects of parenting, each person needs to develop their own approach. For example, my baby doesn't even like the super baby porridge! But her concepts on food combining and calories per pound are very important to know and to be conscious of when you are preparing your baby's meal-even if you are not vegetarians. Moreover, her recipes in the back are EXCELLENT-especially the spreads! And her "bonus" section on household cleaning agents (safe and organic), party tips, etc has been very helpful, cool and fun!
She does also make this point that her babies have been especially healthy and she believes its due to the Super Baby Food diet. I think this may be possible (who am I to say?) but my kids eat really well, very healthfully, but still get sick, maybe 3-4 times per year. I think if kids socialize and go to school (or preschool) they are going to get sick, with or without super baby food.
All in all, an excellent resource!

The Baby Food Bible -
This is the book you need if you are going to feed a baby, toddler, or child. You don't even have to want to make your own to get good use out of this book. This book tells you which foods to start when, how much to feed, and how often. It tells you how to make your own (step by step directions for each food) and why you might want to. It has time saving and money saving tips and not just for food. The back section is loaded with toddler-tempting recipes that are easy to make, healthy, and that a toddler might actually eat. I have loved the purple book through two kids and have shared it with many mom friends. This would be worth buying for yourself or for a mommy you know.
Confusing and time consuming to figure out -
I bought this book in hopes that I could prepare some food and as a basic guide to help me with what to feed my twin girls. I was confused most of the time. I kept reading about this wonderful "Super Porridge", but have yet to find a well-written out recipe for it and then have the substitutions/adding of ingredients to follow. It also has you referencing so many pages, you might forget where you started. It was just not the book for me.
Too risky - read with caution -
I am rating this book two stars because of two main concerns: 1) the introduction of nuts and other foods too early, which is a risk for babies with undiagnosed allergies, and 2) the overall tone of the book, which is very "preachy." The risk of allergies is the biggest reason to be wary of the book. The author is good at advising people on how to avoid issues like choking (she recommends buying a tool for sizing food portions), but disregards any specific issues with food allergies. We took the safe route and did not try any of the peanut recipes, which turned out to be very fortunate: our son developed a nut allergy (with no history in either of our families - it was a complete surprise). We tried to convert a couple recipes to nut-free versions and they were horrible failures. I can't blame her for our failures, but I think that an author who takes such a strong stance on other safety issues like choking hazards would at least touch on allergy avoidance and not introduce nuts. She provides no guidance on what to do if an allergy occurs (e.g. tagging certain recipes as nut-free).
New parents that are looking for guidance on healthy food for their children can find a lot of great things in this book, but they have to take the information with a grain of salt: the author has very fixed ideas of how to bring up healthy kids, and goes so far as to make the reader feel guilty for not following her advice. If you do get the book, use the schedule at the beginning and the tips on making home-made baby food. When the book makes you doubt yourself or the safety of your child, put it down.

I got this book back when I had my first baby! it was a tremendous help especially being a young exclusively breastfeeding mother! I took the advice I wanted from it and didn't take the advice that I didn't agree with! it was in words I understood and made it very simple for me to make my baby's food at home, store, freeze and refeed!! I highly recommend the book! ..
