Lost and Found - 
Great book. We read it for our book club and it made for a lot of discussion. We all agreed that the first chapter was a bit "disturbing" and after that it took a while to get to a point that we didn't want to put it down..but it did happen.

Slow burner -
I have to say i found this to be a slow burner but it did get better as the book went on so perservere. It tells the sad tale of rocky who loses her husband at the young age of 42. She moves to a small island and comes across a black dog desperate for a home - Lloyd, and so the story begins. I dont want to give anything away but this doggie tale is not told by the dog (as many are these days) but by his owner/foster mummy. I did find there was alot of written pages that could easily be skimmed which put me off abit but the story itself is lovely so give it a go! 7/10 for me
A rescued dog that in turn renews the lives of his companions -
Rocky, a clinical psychologist at a student center, has her life dramatically altered when her husband, a veterinarian, dies unexpectedly. She is initially overwhelmed by her grief. Rocky escapes to a tiny island town in Maine, where she gets a job as the animal control warden. She has hidden her past from those around her, but slowly warms to a few select people. When Rocky captures a labrador retriever who has been shot with an arrow, her life begins to change. Rocky fosters the dog and begins developing relationships with Lloyd (the dog), Tess, her neighbor with synesthesia, and the young girl, Melissa, whom Rocky immediately suspects has an eating disorder. They begin to investigate the mystery behind Lloyd. The handmade arrow leads Rocky to an enigmatic archery expert who she takes lessons from and becomes attracted to him. I liked the characterization and the multiple points of view. This was a well done story that felt very real and honest.
Great book -
I bought this book because it sounded like a nice story and one of the main characters is a dog. Being a dog lover I like to get this kind of books for when I am traveling and have time at hand during flights and train rides.
I absolutely loved it. Very touching the insight of how a woman tries to cope with the sudden loss of her husband. As a scientist I loved the insight into the work of a psychologist. I also loved the insight it offers on Anorexia (the girl Melissa) and Synesthesia ( the woman named Tess) and what it means to live with this disorders.
The book was an easy read and I highly recommend it.

Lost and Found offers a story of the heart. Rocky, a clinical psychologist, has lost her young, veterinary husband. Along with dealing with her grief, she is also dealing with the guilt of trying to save him but failing. To cope with her problems, she moves to a remote tourist island for the off-season where she takes a job as an animal control officer.
In the course of her new job, she rescues and is rescued by a remarkable dog, a black lab who has been wounded by an Osage arrow. How she and the dog heal and heal others comprise the remainder of this fine novel.
Here's my take on "Lost and Found:"
PROS:
1. Lost and Found is well-written and well-edited. You won't found the errors that detract from so many current books.
2. Characters are well-drawn and quite believable. You even get a flavor of the story from the dog's point of view.
3. The plot moves on rapidly, so rapidly, in fact, that I found myself finishing it in an evening because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
CONS:
Nothing to complain about in this novel.
OVERALL:
This is a story that will tug at your heart without being overly saccharin. I enjoyed my hours with Lost and Found and recommend it highly.
